Are you from Maine originally?

Yes. I’m a third-generation Mainer!

How did you become a musician? What inspired you?

I’ve always been interested in music, pretty much since I was a toddler. My parents exposed me to a lot of great music (The Beatles, The Platters, The Supremes, Roy Orbison) when I was very young. I always have access to their records and my own record player. There was also a lot of music in my schools. My first-grade teacher had a piano in the classroom, and our music teacher in elementary school would integrate “traditional” music with contemporary recordings. I took piano lessons from her. My parents bought me a piano when I was in second or third grade. My Pop is a great singer. Never did so “professionally”, but he sang all the time. They always were very encouraging. Also, my grandfather on my mother’s side was a professional vaudeville and big band musician (banjo and sax and clarinet). He used to play a lot of music with me. You can see him perform in an old-timey newsreel below.

Tell me more about your track Love’s Not Lost.

The song is like to feature is called “Love’s Not Lost” and I like it because it’s about loving one another and working together. Plain and simple old school hippy love vibes.

What’s the inspiration behind the song and does it tell a story?

My inspiration for it was being tired of all the fighting and vitriol. I think if people were easier on each other, took a minute to contemplate and consider each other’s perspectives rather than immediately reacting and trying to tear each other down, that we would be in a better place. I feel like we need to show more compassion and want better for each other.

Do you plan to launch new music?

I just released a new record called The Popsicko Vol.2 and it’s streaming everywhere and available for purchase through my website, spenceralbee.com.

Do you plan to perform live or virtually anywhere in the near future?

I just did a live stream via the State Theatre on December 11th. It’s archived, so you can check it out on their Facebook page.
