Are you from Maine originally?

We both grew up in Maine, though Baron is currently living in Portland, Oregon, so we aren’t doing any new recordings or concerts at the moment. Baron teaches through his website, mandolessons.com

How did you become a musician? What inspired you?

I came to playing music through going to contra dances and wanting to play. A friend of Baron’s family gave him a mandolin to borrow and taught him a few chords. We met in 2008 at Maine Fiddle Camp in Montville and loved making music together right away. Baron was just headed off to college, but we continued to play when we met up at camp in the summers and recorded our first album a few years later.

We both love the tunes found in traditional dance music from a variety of places - Ireland, Québec, England, the US, and Scandinavia. We love to share these tunes with friends and audiences, with a bit of our own playfulness mixed in. Part of this music tradition is playing together with friends, which is part of how we got to know Jody Johnstone here at the Irish session in Belfast. Playing music is a great way to make new friends!
