Are you from Maine originally?

My family is originally from Maine. My dad was in the air force so I moved around a lot as a kid. We didn’t settle in Maine until I was 14, but it was the first place I really felt at home. All my extended family is there, and all my family’s history and stories have Maine as their backdrop.

How did you become a musician? What inspired you?

I always had a serious passion for music - my dad is a musician and there was always music in my house. I began writing poetry in high school, and right after I graduated I taught myself guitar and started putting my poems to song. I was inspired by what a lot of 18-year-olds are inspired by which moves them to begin expressing themselves through art. I had gone through a breakup, and took a year off before college, and was very lonely and upset. Music was a catharsis and something to devote all my energy to, and it helped heal me in such a raw time.

Tell me more about your single “Even in the Tremor”. What was the inspiration behind it and does it tell a story?

“Even in the Tremor” is at its root, a love song. It was inspired by my relationship with my partner of five years. I find that in love, there can be a fair amount of anxiety - fear of losing the other person. Suddenly, when you have something so precious in your life, it’s possible to become fixated on what would happen if it disappeared. This song chronicles the different places we traveled early on when we were falling in love and is partially about the desire to stay present.

Do you plan to launch new music?

I am in the process of setting up my home studio to begin writing my next record, which I’m really excited about!

Do you plan to perform live or virtually anywhere in the near future?

I plan on hosting more socially distanced shows on my property in Maine this summer.
